What is the Meaning of Sponsoring? What Does a Sponsorship Provide to a Child? What is the Meaning of Education Sponsoring? Sponsorship and Education Sponsorship Prices
What
is the Meaning of Sponsoring? The Foundation sponsorship system creates a link between a child from the disadvantaged district of Villa Caoba and a "First World" person willing to cooperate. Both parties benefit from this link. The child benefits from the new resources that can be accessed through the sponsor and at the same time from the emotional side, from the fact of knowing that he/she has a sponsor that has a special affection for him/her. The sponsor has also benefits from this link, since performing an act of generosity towards another human being immediately improves your mood and relieves your soul. The sponsor benefits from that emotional part, too, knowing that there is a little person that has a special affection for him or her. What Does a Sponsorship Provide to a Child? The sponsorship benefits a child in 3 aspects:
Yes, you can visit the child, be with her or him, going for a walk with him or her, buy her or him an ice-cream... in short, yes, you can foster that emotional link between the sponsor and the child. It should be noted that it's the sponsor who shall run with all travel and accommodation expenses, since all the funds the Foundation receives are intended to improve the children's situation and not to pay the sponsor's expenses. What
is the Meaning of Education Sponsoring? In the District of Villa Caoba there are many children that do not go to school. These children spend their days playing, helping around the home or on the street. Although primary school in Dominican Republic is free, and there is a public school in the district, there are some minimum requirements to go to school. These requirements are to have a minimum of school supplies (pens, notebooks to write on, rubber, pencil, rule), textbooks, a backpack to carry them and the school uniform. The school uniform in this country is considered to be of much importance, both by the school institution (they do not allow children to go to school without it), and by the people, to whom the fact of wearing it fills them with pride (because it shows that that person is going to school in "compared to" others who are not going). This school uniform reality can be criticised in a greater or lesser extent, but it is a reality that exists and without that uniform and without those school supplies, the child cannot go to school. All this means that a child going to school for a full year depends only on a few Pesos that, in many cases, cannot be paid. To sponsor a child's schooling you can contact one of these people:
Sponsorship and Education Sponsorship Options Summary You can "Sponsor", "Education Sponsor" or "Sponsor and Education Sponsor" a child. If you want to sponsor without sponsoring the schooling, we recommend sponsoring a child that already goes to school, so double sponsoring is avoided ("normal" and "education" sponsor). Ideally one single sponsor should sponsor and education sponsor a child (which is possible), although, of course, any contribution will be more than welcome. Amounts and Possible Options:
Important Notes: Amounts shall be considered in Euros, amounts in Pesos and US Dollars are approximate, since they were calculated according to the exchange rate on the day this page was done. The sponsorship is paid monthly and schooling annually – one single payment at the beginning of the school year. To sponsor a child or a child's education you can contact one of these people:
